New Convention Plans

4.27.05 - After much debate, the club has decided to not throw a party at Cascadia Con. A few of us plan on being at Cascadia Con on Saturday. We'll have a new member orientation meeting and maybe provide lunch if enough of the "Legions" plan on attending the convention or just show up.

Instead, we'll make our big appearance with all the new equipment at Orycon 27. If you plan on going, buy your Orycon badge now while it's less expensive. We can plan ride shares when November get's a little closer.

Norwescon 29 is gonna' be crazy. It looks like we can get 19' monitors, a lighting truss, and a completely professional sound system including a 1200w Amp. If things work out, we'll be located just a bit down the hall from Biohazard on the first floor.

6.6.05 - Update. There's a good chance we'll have all the equipment mentioned by Orycon 27. We're also now interested in grouping together with other parties on the top floor for Norwescon.

Cascadia Con Hilton Hotel Visit

4.15.05 - We made a visit to the Hilton Hotel in Sea-Tac. Since we've never stayed at the Hilton, we wanted to take a closer look at the rooms and get some ideas about our LAN party set up for Cascadia Con.

We're damn lucky we visited. The rooms are smaller than those we've had in the past and configured differently. The bathrooms are tiny. Video projector set up is going to be a challenge.

4.27.05 - Cascadia Con party canceled.

Equipment Plans
We’ve made it a goal to go completely micro-ATX and get the LAN gaming computers mounted into a “Gig” rack. This should help us with the set-up and tear-down times besides looking f@#king awesome!

We’re also looking into expanding towards a hotel room suite for Cascadia Con to get a little more breathing room. It’s possible we could have a trailer to haul our gear to conventions in the next year because it’s getting a bit to “crampt” loading the equipment into a single Jeep.

The ideas we’re discussing now will turn into something amazing for NorwesCon 29 hosted in 2006. 19 inches of pleasure my friend!

New Upgrades
It’s time for machine upgrades. We’ve upgraded all the LAN party machines to nVidia 2700 video cards. We’re still planning on playing Unreal Tournament 2004 at Cascadia Con, but our guests should experience a 100% increase in game performance since our last NorwesCon showing.

Our gaming machines have gotten the job done for two years, but could certainly be better. At NorwesCon we upgraded to an 802.11g wireless network which seemed to work out pretty well. Better is to come… we promise.

Introducing The Jaffa Legions
If you’re here, you know this is the web site launch! We’re really exited about the things we’ve accomplished so far this year and the plans we’re working on right now. “The Jaffa Legions” concept has gotten the attention of our employers and is spreading amongst the ranks.

We’re in the process of finalizing our plans to attend Cascadia Con. It’s been our goal to do something a little bit better and a little bit “cooler” each party we hold. This next time around is sure to please.

Who We Are

The Jaffa Legions are a LAN gaming club dedicated to Charity Awareness, and to having an enjoyable time in charitable service.

We believe giving monetary donations to a charity organization lacks personal involvement. It’s easy to donate money and forget. It’s much harder committing yourself to a worth-while cause.

We believe charity involves work and personal sacrifice.

We, as The Jaffa Legions commit ourselves to spreading the awareness of worth-while charities.

We work diligently to spread awareness of charities having low administration expenses, have significant numbers of volunteers and can provide measurable proof of impact towards their cause.

We are The Jaffa Legions. We exist to serve.
